Replace What You Have Lost with Full or Partial Dentures

A denture is used to help patients replace missing teeth. A complete denture replaces a full upper or lower row of teeth, while a partial denture is designed to replace just a few missing teeth, in addition to preventing nearby teeth from shifting out of alignment.

Traditionally, treatment with a denture could be completed in about 8 to 12 weeks. In the meantime, an immediate denture may be recommended. An immediate denture protects the mouth’s tissues and reduces bleeding after extraction, but it’s not a permanent set of dentures.

Are Dentures Right for Me?

Dentures aren’t just for seniors. People may lose teeth because of an injury, advanced decay, or gum disease. As a result, any patient with missing teeth may be a good candidate for either full or partial dentures. During a consultation, Dr. Alexander will assess your specific situation and talk to you about your treatment options. As your partners in creating a healthy smile, we want to help you confidently smile again.

What to Expect

Treatment with dentures is completed over a series of appointments. During the first one, Dr. Alexander will diagnose your situation. Then we’ll collect information about your smile, including a physical impression. When we have all the information we need, we’ll design your denture and fit your smile with a temporary, which you’ll wear while our lab carefully creates the final product. When your final denture is ready, we’ll check the fit, as well as the color and shape, and make any adjustments we might need to.

Alternatives to Traditional Dentures

If your jaw is strong enough, Dr. Alexander may talk to you about implant-supported dentures. With dental implants, patients can enjoy results that look and feel more natural. That’s because implants act like prosthetic roots, creating a solid foundation for your new teeth. If dental implants are right for you, we’ll be happy to talk to you more about how the implant process works.
